A great sense of calm can be found where the ocean meets the land. There’s something about the great expanse of the sky above, the sea beyond and the sound of the waves crashing on to the ground beneath our feet, that restores us and helps to calm our busy minds.
]]>Our SS24 collection, ‘From The Ocean’s Edge’ speaks to this moment of serenity. Crystal blue aquamarine and iridescent pearls adorn earrings, pendants and rings in 9kt gold, 18kt gold and 14kt gold-filled. Delicate natural diamonds appear on studs and rings, catching the light just as clear water glistens in the sun. Modern, geometric shapes (circles, stars and bars of gold) compliment more natural elements such as leaf charms and beautifully irregular baroque pearls. A key style in this collection and new to MoMuse, is our ‘double threader earring’ - extra long chains of 9kt gold that can be threaded through two piercings.
“The timeless waves, bright, sifting, broken glass,
Came dazzling around, into the rocks…
Did sea define the land or land the sea?
Each drew new meaning from the waves' collision.”
– Lovers on Aran, Seamus Heaney
Born of water, pearls symbolise purity, wisdom, spiritual transformation and feminine energy. Their round shape is often associated with the moon and the tidal power it possesses over our oceans. In Roman times, aquamarine, a semi-precious gemstone was often gifted to young lovers as it was thought to bestow happiness, hope and everlasting youth upon its wearers. Seafaring people often travelled with the gemstone, believing it to possess protective qualities.
Our collections are designed in Dublin by our founder, Margaret O’Rourke. The 14kt gold-filled pieces are handmade in our Dublin studio while our fine jewellery collection featuring 9kt and 18kt gold, are hallmarked locally in Dublin Castle’s Assay Office.

In 2022, MoMuse co-founder Margaret O'Rourke lost her brother-in-law Noel who was born with Down Syndrome, just shy of his 60th birthday.
“As with so many people who live with Down Syndrome Noel was a kind and caring gentleman. He brought great love and joy to many peoples lives.” - Margaret O'Rourke
The pendant retails at €185 with €125 from each piece sold being donated directly to Down Syndrome Ireland. This money will help to support their programmes which carry great importance for their many service users. “We are hoping that this piece will resonate with our customers, in a similar way to our previous and hugely successful ‘HOPE’ fundraiser for Pieta.” - Margaret O'Rourke
In keeping with our signature style, the oval-shaped 9kt gold pendant hangs from a delicate gold chain. The pendant features three cut-out, upwards facing arrows, each representing the tri copies of chromosome 21. The necklace is available both in store and online.

Pearls have long been a staple of our collections at MoMuse - in fact we recently travelled to meet our trusted German supplier, hand picking the best and most unique pieces for our new Spring Summer collection (launching very soon!).
A favourite as an accessory to everything from wedding dresses to t-shirts, this lustrous gem is a failsafe way to add both class and playfulness to your looks. Keep reading to discover Margaret's favourite pearl pieces.
You'll find an endless variety of pearls across our 14kt gold-filled and fine jewellery collections. For something timeless, there's the petite pearl; perfectly round and white, you'll find these triple AAA quality pearls on necklaces. drop earrings, and even surrounded by diamonds in our favourite 18kt gold pearl and diamond ring. Another favourite that has just arrived in store is the 9kt gold five freshwater pearl ring.
Perhaps the most popular is the baroque pearl - a beautifully irregular formation that adorns hoops, bracelets and our signature threader earrings. I particularly love this gold-filled paperclip chain and pearl combination, especially when layered with our 9kt gold paperclip chain. No two baroque pearls are the same, so they make for an interesting challenge when we're making our collections in the MoMuse studio.
Then there's the pearls of the coin, keshi and saucer variety. These styles tend to be flat and irregular in shape and size. We used keshi pearls throughout our latest AW23 collection to add a sense of drama. Saucer pearls stack particularly elegant together elegantly as you can see in our delicate saucer pearl threaders.
And last but certainly not least, is mother of pearl. What you might not know is that this rare and pearlescent material is technically termed “nacre”, a crystallised mineral compound that forms on the inner shell layer of certain mollusks. I particularly love these delicate 9kt gold mother of pearl earrings - a modern take on the classic 'girl with a pearl earring' look.
I'm excited to be sharing some new pearl styles as part of our SS24 collection launching in the coming weeks. Sign up to our newsletter via our homepage to be the first to know when it drops.

]]>You’ve made the decision to ask the big question, so what’s next? Helping someone find the right engagement ring for their partner - or indeed for themselves in the case where a promise ring has already been given - is a unanimous favourite activity amongst our sales team.
Let these top tips on shopping for the perfect engagement ring help to guide you through the process.
1. You've found us, so you're already off to a good start. First, we'd suggest you come visit us in store - we're located in Dublin's historic Powerscourt Townhouse. That way, we can deliver the most personal service this situation deserves. If you can't make it into us, we're very glad to help you over the phone or via email.
2. Next, we invite you to browse our 18kt gold ring collection - featuring everything from a traditional solitaire diamond ring, to more contemporary baguette diamond styles, precious and semi-precious gemstone encrusted bands - we're confident you'll find something that feels just right.
There's a myriad of things to consider when choosing the right ring but the main points are:
Budget - have an idea of what you'd like to spend as this will be a huge help in choosing the perfect ring.
Style - Traditionalist? Minimalist? Alternative? Colour lover? An engagement ring can help to communicate yours or your partner's personal style.
Durability - some stones are softer than others, making them more suitable for wearing every other day. This is an important point to bear in mind when choosing a ring you're planning for you or your partner to wear everyday, 'til death do you part'.
3. We'll then take your partner's rings measurements or measure your own finger, if you're shopping for yourself. If you haven't managed to sneak this information out of your beloved, we always recommend bringing in a ring you know they wear on their ring finger. Failing this, we recommend sizing up as rings tend to be easier to size down.
4. If we have your chosen ring in stock, you'll get to walk away there and then with it. If not, then fear not... we will custom make your ring to size, a process which takes about 6-8 weeks.
5. This is where we part ways and leave you to the even funner part; asking your partner for their hand in marriage. We're always here if you need something resized or resparkled before the big day.
You can shop our collection of diamond rings here.
Wishing you all the luck!

]]>The original comprises nine pieces composed of 9kt gold, 18kt gold and natural, conflict-free white diamonds. One year later, we're excited to launch four new additions to the Synergy family - a modern infinity ring, pendant necklace, stud earring and drop earring.
Working together to design the latest pieces, the pair were keen to ensure each piece would sit seamlessly with each other, allowing people to collect and cherish them for years to come.
Can you talk us through the latest additions to the collection? What inspired their design and shape?
Ingrid
When we launched The Synergy Collection last year we very quickly realised just how loved the pieces were. The shapes of the pieces seemed to really resonate with so many of our customers and so we wanted to incorporate that shape into the new pieces.
We added some studs this time around which sit so beautifully on the ear - the shape is really cool when worn alone or mixed with the open rectangle drop earrings from the original Synergy collection. We also added some drop earrings that are intertwined, to represent the founding concept of the collection: friendship. We also have a beautiful ring with the signature open rectangle shape, that almost wraps around your finger. It’s delicate and timeless. Lastly, we’ve made the ever popular pendant in a larger size that can be worn as a stand alone piece or layered with other fine jewellery pendants.
Margaret
I agree with Ingrid. The design and shape has worked for our customers and we are very excited to continue this design with the latest four new pieces.
"The latest pieces are timeless and something you will cherish forever."
How have you enjoyed working together on the latest pieces? Can you talk us through the process?
Ingrid
We always have such a fun time creating the pieces and have very similar ideas in what we wanted The Synergy Collection to be. The latest pieces are timeless and something you will cherish forever. Margaret and I design the pieces together here in Ireland. We go back and forth until we get them perfect - a process that can take months - but we want to ensure they are beautifully crafted.
Margaret
We continue to work so well together. Our main goal was to create pieces that people would want to add to their existing Synergy collection. We have had so much fun working together on these latest designs which I’m thrilled to have modelled by Ingrid.
How would you like to see people where the Synergy collection?
Ingrid
Since we launched, Margaret and I have seen so many people wear the pieces. It’s always a pinch-me moment when someone stops you to say they love the collection and are wearing pieces from it. We just love to see people wearing the pieces their own way and to feel beautiful when they have them on. I think we are in awe of how they are bought as gifts or as self-gifts. We even had a bride wear the 9kt gold open rectangle bracelet on her wedding day recently. We have shipped so many of the pieces across the world and it’s always lovely to get feedback from the customers.
What's your favourite piece from the collection (new or old)?
Ingrid
That changes constantly, I’m always wearing the pieces, every single day. I love every piece in the Synergy Collection and we are just so proud of what we have created and that people love it too.
Margaret
I love the small Synergy necklace which I wear lots, it’s so simple. I also love the new stud earring which will work on a first or second piercing. We have more plans to add to this collection going forward which is very exciting. Watch this space!

]]>The light plays tricks with us at this time of year. The mornings can be dark and the evenings short but wait a few hours, and you might find the streets flooded with the most golden, Autumn sunlight.
It’s a duality we love. Night and day, black and white, masculine and feminine. We embrace these opposites, for one can’t exist without the other and together, with the right balance, they can make a harmonious whole.
Our Autumn Winter 2023 collection is a celebration of contrasts - the darkness of multi-faceted black agate, the brightness of freshwater, keshi and baroque pearls and the brilliance of asymmetrical, golden-shadow crystal pendants. These elements are married with delicate 14kt gold-filled paper clip chains, hoops, fans and fringing along with rich hammered and pleated textures.
"I was lucky enough to spend some time working for Chanel many years ago as I was building MoMuse. Monochrome - the Chanel signature look - is one that never dates. I've enjoyed referencing this timelessness in our new Autumn Winter collection"
- Margaret O'Rourke, MoMuse Founder & Designer
Autumn is a favourite time of year for Margaret and this is evident in the use of blacks and warm golden hues you’ll find in our new AW23 collection. Pearls - another Chanel classic - also feature. We work exclusively with an internationally renowned pearl supplier who has over thirty years experience in sourcing the world’s finest and most ethical pearls.

Choosing what to pack
Does anyone else pack for their holidays with the best version of themselves in mind (i.e. the ‘self’ who works out daily, wears glamorous wide-brimmed hats by the pool and sports red lipstick on the beach) only to end up venturing no further than the resort bar, wearing a baseball cap every day and never applying a scrap of makeup?
If that’s you, then we recommend packing light and choosing versatile pieces that will bring you from breakfast buffet to after-dinner karaoke.
Our collection of 9kt gold paperclip chains (in weights light and heavy) work well together as a pair or individually. You can also use them to carry your favourite charms while you’re not wearing them on your huggies or hoops.
Speaking of… these are both a great choice for understated ears that will work just as well with your pitching-a-tent look as they will with your cocktail attire. Try our diamond huggies or our 9kt gold clip hoops. Studs are another smart choice - they’re low maintenance, suitable for high activity and if paired with diamonds, perfect for dinner out.
Aside from these everyday staples, at least one pair of statement earrings is an absolute must. We love these crystal dazzlers by Merle O’Grady and these pearl and bar drop earrings from our SS23 collection.
Moving on to the hands, it’s always fun to lean into a more bohemian aesthetic while on holidays which is where our signature stacking rings really come into their own. For something utterly luxurious, try our new 18kt gold emerald and diamond stacking duo or our plain 18kt hammered gold bands.
Last but not least, and a first for us is our 9kt gold anklet - the perfect accessory to your freshly sunkissed skin.
Packing
So, now that you’ve rounded up your favourite jewels, how should you pack them? To avoid arriving at your destination to find your jewellery in a tangle, we’d suggest picking up our bestselling MoMuse travel box. Pop this into your carry-on so you can keep your jewellery safe throughout your journey.
The 4 ‘S’es
Sunscreen, sand, saltwater and swimming pools aren’t exactly jewellery’s best friends. When it comes to solid gold, some exposure to saltwater is ok but it can dull your jewellery. Sunscreen can have a similar effect. Make sure to pack your MoMuse polishing cloth to keep your jewels dazzling.
As saltwater is corrosive, prolonged exposure can sometimes weaken diamond settings or areas where jewellery has been enlarged (and therefore thinned) so bear this in mind if you’re planning on daily dips.
Chlorine can be particularly damaging to gold and diamonds. In this case, we’d recommend removing and leaving your pieces somewhere safe - ideally your hotel room or in your bag in the car of someone you trust.
Lastly, sand is not a friend to gemstones as it can leave tiny scratches on their surfaces. If you’re concerned, leave your gems at home and reunite with them for dinner.
Bon voyage and don’t forget to share your holiday snaps with us by tagging @momusejewellery or #momuse.

Since Egyptian times, when emeralds were favoured by Cleopatra, the lustrous green of May’s birthstone has symbolised wealth, success, wisdom and abundance. Alongside these appealing attributes, emeralds are thought to have powerful healing qualities. We have an inherent tendency to associate the colour green with nature and by wearing it (be it a green shirt, or our favourite emerald gold-filled hoops) it can help us to relax, restore and focus on the rejuvenating qualities of our natural environment.
"Indeed no stone has a colour that is more delightful to the eye, for whereas the sight fixes itself with avidity upon the green grass and foliage of the trees, we have all the more pleasure in looking upon the emerald, there being no green in existence more intense than this."
Pliny, Natural History
In Hinduism, the emerald is a symbol of unconditional love with those who practise the religion associating it with the heart chakra. This symbology of love was also prevalent in Roman mythology, with Venus, the goddess of love was often linked with the emerald.
As gemstones go, emeralds are particularly hard stones (they measure 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs hardness scale where a diamond has a hardness of 10 and chalk has a hardness of 3). However, as it is virtually impossible to find an emerald that is flawless or free on ‘inclusions’ this can leave them vulnerable to damage from prolonged and daily wear.
Our best advice to care for your emeralds would be:

There’s something so magic about the hour just after sunrise and just before sunset, when everything in sight is flooded with warm, golden night. Our latest collection, ‘Golden Hour’ is an ode to this time of day and to the feeling of growth and renewal it awakens in us.
“With the promise of warmer and longer days, my mind has been floating to the coast. Those peaceful evenings - when the sun’s rays glisten on the surface of the sea - are represented by asymmetric de-art crystal in aquamarine blue.
Globe-shaped golden shadow crystal speaks to the sun as it burns bright during the summer, while pearls (both baroque and freshwater) appear as little gifts from the ocean. These softer shapes are juxtaposed with geometric cube and emerald-cut crystal along with contemporary tubular bars”.
Signature pieces this season are the Gold-filled pearl bar pendant necklace and matching earrings along with the 'deart' asymmetric aquamarine crystal pendant necklace and matching clip hoop earrings.

Without fail, every season at MoMuse, pearls play a starring role in our wedding collection. Rivalling diamonds, they are the quintessential choice when it comes to romantic jewellery, which is unsurprising given their historical significance and long-time association with rarity and beauty.
Pearl jewellery can be traced as far back as the Roman Empire when it was highly desirable and acted as a symbol of status and wealth. In fact, it’s said that Cleopatra would dissolve a single pearl in a glass of wine before drinking it. Later, in the middle ages, pearls gained a divine status, and were attributed to Jesus and the Virgin Mary as symbols of purity and chastity. They were even worn on the battlefields during the crusades by the Knights Templar as a means of protection. By the 17th and 18th centuries, pearls had lost their religious connotations, and by total contrast, were now being worn in an ostentatious, and often seductive, manner.
"All art is autobiography; the pearl is the oyster’s autobiography."
Federico Fellini
The 19th century saw those in the courts of Europe adorn pearl jewellery of all shapes and sizes, from dramatically long necklaces to chokers of pearls. Pearl necklaces experienced another great era of experimentation during the ‘roaring twenties’ when the iconic ‘pearl sautoir’ necklace became popular - imagine strings of pearls with a pearl tassel or dangling ornament.
The Ancient Greeks were the first to gift pearls as harbingers of good luck to newlyweds and many centuries later, pearls continue to be associated with expressions of love today. Our Wedding Collection features pearls of all shapes and sizes - from the irregular baroque pearl, coin pearl and pear drop pearl to the ever-classic freshwater pearl - adorning earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Discover our full range of pearls here or visit in store to see it for yourself.

Since launching MoMuse 14 years ago, we’ve played a part in the designing, making and selling of thousands of Valentine’s Day gifts. And so, it goes without saying, that our designer and founder, Margaret O’Rourke knows a thing or two about how to get it right. Here, she’s put together an edit of her favourite pieces to gift this Valentine’s Day.
Our 18tk Gold Black and White Diamond Band covers a few bases; its combination of two different colours of diamonds will appeal to those who like something contemporary yet unexpected. I finally treated myself to one this Christmas.
The next addition to my ring stack will be this 18kt Gold Three Baguette Diamond Band which I designed in collaboration with my friend and stylist, Ingrid Hoey. I’ve always loved stacking rings (it’s a signature jewellery styling tip of ours at MoMuse) and baguette diamonds have always had a special place in my heart, as they feature in my own engagement ring.
"...baguette diamonds have always had a special place in my heart, as they feature in my own engagement ring."
For anyone planning to get down on bended knee this February 14th, this gold and diamond band is an ideal engagement ring; it has a modern form and is designed to be stacked with our 18kt Gold Single Baguette Diamond Band…perfect for those looking for a matching wedding ring and engagement ring pair.
A staple of mine which I wear every day, and which arguably, anyone with pierced ears is bound to love - are my gold and diamond huggies. They’re so incredibly comfortable to wear, I almost never take them off.
If you’re not quite ready to commit to diamonds, well then our 9kt diamond cut chain (which you’ll see most of our staff wearing) is a great choice.
What these pieces all have in common is classic and timeless designs, which can be worn year round. If you invest now, the longevity you get from each piece will you back in dividends (I guess the same can be said of relationships!).

"With the support of friends, the press and of course our amazing customers, MoMuse has grown in a way I could never have dreamed of"
Just down the road in an old red brick building, we found a little space above our favourite hairdressers. Up many, many flights of stairs, we set up a small office and stock room. Some ferns and hanging plants from our neighbours at The Garden made the space feel like home. We spent many happy years there before we began to feel the itch again for a bigger space.
This year, we found just the space on the top floor of the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre. With its original Georgian windows, tiled floor and high ceilings, it’s just what we’d been dreaming of. In our workshop, old meets new with a selection of antiques and more contemporary pieces we’ve collected over the years. There’s a corner for business (an old three legged mahogany table), a round glass table we gather around for our weekly meetings, a desk for making, lots of storage and a fully glazed wall where we’ve hung the images photographer Eilish McCormick and stylist Aisling Farinella created of our latest collection with Ingrid Hoey.
We’re looking forward to bringing you lots of golden goodness from our new creative space for years to come. Stay tuned!

MoMuse founder and designer, Margaret O'Rourke, has collaborated with stylist Ingrid Hoey to launch The Synergy Collection - a fine jewellery collection to celebrate friendship. The Synergy Collection includes nine pieces composed of 9kt gold, 18kt gold and natural diamonds. Hero pieces include drop earrings, initial huggies, layering necklaces, delicate diamond stackable rings, a signet ring and a modern infinity bracelet. Here, we discuss the importance of friendships and the inspiration behind their new collection.
What is it about Mags / Ingrid that makes them a good friend?
Ingrid Mags is such a great listener, and she’s so bloody wise! She always gives me really good advice and is also really supportive. Nothing in life is ever plain sailing. We all need friends beside us, to enjoy the great times and help us to navigate the more difficult ones.
Mags Friendships are so important to both of us. Ingrid is one of the kindest people and has been the most amazing support to me over the years.
"Friendships are so important to both of us."
What was it like working together on the collection?
Ingrid SO. MUCH. FUN.
Mags and I have always had a really special friendship, we have been through so much both personally and professionally together. We both respect each other's viewpoints and we both know our strengths that we each bring to the collection.
We wanted to create something that meant something to the friendships in our lives. For us, it's the lovely clean lines in some of the pieces and how our paths crossed and bonded. She is the most fun person to spend time with - we had lots of coffee and tea get-togethers over the past year working on this.
How did you design the collection together? How did you bring the sentiment of friendship into the pieces?
Ingrid Mags and I spent so much time chatting about what we wanted the collection to represent and what we wanted it to look like. From creating mood boards, sketching some initial ideas out over copious amounts of tea, and drawing inspiration from our own style, we created pieces that represent the longevity and beauty of friendship, through the shape and structure and also the fact the pieces are 9kt and 18kt gold.
Mags Ingrid being the most amazing stylist - she’s so inspiring. We wanted wearable pieces that would last a lifetime. The most fun was seeing them come to life and particularly the shoot day, where we got to wear them and see them styled in many ways. We had the best day.
How will you style the new collection?
Ingrid When we set out to design this collection, we both wanted it to be timeless, classic and beautiful. We wanted pieces you can wear everyday. For me, I’ll wear it everyday with a crisp white shirt, denims and ballet flats, or a beautiful black dress and heels for dinner. What’s beautiful about the pieces is they can be worn your way, everyday.
What's your first port of call when it comes to designing a new collection?
It's mostly colours that inspire my new collections. This season, it's all about emerald green - my favourite gemstone. I do keep an eye on trends but I love this line,
'In a world full of trends, I want to remain a classic'
Where can I buy the new collection?
Our AW22 collection is available online at momuse.ie, our store in Powerscourt Townhouse, Dublin as well as our store in Avoca, Kilmacanogue. Our stockists across the country will have this collection from October.
Can you share some tips on how to style your favourite pieces?
The emerald pendant will layer beautifully with the long paper clip necklace. The beauty of the paperclip necklace is that it can also be worn as a short, double layer necklace.
'Nature's First Green is Gold' - Robert Frost
Is there one particular style you include in all of your collections?
We always include hoops in our collections - both gold-filled and 9kt gold. They are timeless, simple and quintessentially MoMuse.
Our pearls are ethically sourced from pearl farms in Asia via a small German supplier with whom we’ve been working for many years. You can read more about the finer detail of our pieces here.
We work with a number of ethical suppliers who manufacture the components we use in our gold-filled collection. These are then assembled and hand-finished in our lovely new studio space on the top floor of Powerscourt Townhouse. Our pieces are made for longevity but of course require gentle care.
The new layered paperclip chain, my 9kt 3 star necklace and my diamond studs and huggies. I always wear my 9kt gold bangles layered with other pieces.
For your Mother, try our petite pearl pearl earrings; for your bridesmaid, I would recommend the new pearl and paperclip necklace; for girlfriends, try the new leaf pendant. We’re always happy to help people choose a gift: just pop into us in store, chat with us online while you shop or say hello at info@momuse.ie.

]]>We are proud to introduce our new Spring/Summer '22 Collection. This collection was created by Owner & Designer, Margaret O'Rourke with the vision of 'Embracing Brighter Days Ahead'. In this blog post, she tells us all about the inspiration behind it, what's included in it, her favourite pieces & more.
Tell us what's included in this collection?
You'll see lots of aquamarine, freshwater pearls & golden shadow Swarovski's. This collection contains pieces made from 14kt gold filled, 9kt gold and 18kt gold. This collection was designed to be timeless and each piece can be worn every day; dressed up or down. It includes lots of different shapes like cubes, stars, emerald cut and helix. I recreated the 9kt Gold Satellite Chain so that it can be worn at three different lengths (16", 18", 20"), making it perfect for layering.
What was your inspiration behind this collection?
'Embracing brighter days ahead' was the inspiration behind this collection coming into the Spring/Summer months so I wanted to ensure the jewellery reflected this. Aquamarine was the perfect stone & colour to take centre stage, and I love how the pearls and golden shadow Swarovski's compliment this. Aquamarine is associated with tranquility, serenity, clarity & harmony; which fits perfectly in this launch. I have always loved geometric shapes, especially the emerald cut shape which for me, steals the show!
If you had to choose, what would your favourite piece from the collection be?
My favourite would have to be the Gold Filled Aquamarine Hoops - I adore the emerald cut shape of the Swarovski's.
String of Baroque Pearls with Gold Plated Magnetic Clasp - €185/€295
For the lover of fine jewellery and classic pieces that are not only perfect for everyday wear, but also any occasion!

We've been forced to re-discover all that our nearby surroundings have to offer and I think it's fair to say the majority of us have a new found appreciation for it. There was also a deeper sense of community formed as neighbours began to help each other out. My husband and I would doing a weekly shop for one of our neighbours and it created such a lovely bond.
We cannot thank you all enough for choosing to shop with us for yourself and for your gifts. When you support a small local business, you support a dream. It breaks our hearts to see so many local businesses closing down over the last year. If there was ever a time to shop local, it's now! We love our customers and enjoyed writing your handwritten notes as each order came in. There were so many about how much people missed seeing each other and it meant so much to us that they chose MoMuse as a way of connecting.
The past year has made us pause and slow down; and we can all probably agree that it's put a lot into perspective. In a society that is constantly go-go-go and onto the next thing, we need to rest. Whether that's done through reading a book, going for a walk, calling a loved one, doing some yoga or meditation or simply taking a nap, it helps us keep going at a healthy pace.
Every month of the last year brought change and it's safe to say we've gotten very good at adapting! From closing to opening to closing, a Christmas with a difference and now opening again, it's taught us a lot. We were very thankful for our shop to be able to send out orders from and connect with our customers over phone, email & Instagram. Watching our friends in the hospitality industry stay closed and a very quiet city was very difficult.
A regularly updated and user friendly website alongside active social media accounts has kept us strong throughout the last year. I think it's fair to say that it's definitely been the year that we've all ordered and received more packages than we'd like to admit!! However, online isn't always for everyone so we tried to accommodate everyone by taking some orders over the phone. We're delighted to be re-introducing our Click & Collect service from the 10th May.
We have been eagerly awaiting the 17th May to re-open our doors and welcome back our dearly loved customers. Our team have been busy getting the shop ready for you & we've added some newness to our interiors, thanks to the wonderful Jo Murphy Art and The Garden.
I think it's fair to say that everyone is itching to get on a plane right now! For now, we are going to travel our beautiful country again soon and I am so looking forward to seeing family in Kerry, friends in West Cork and enjoy and support small businesses who have been closed for a long time.
Travelling around the world to places like Paris, Antwerp and Italy to name a few are a huge part of MoMuse. We can't wait for the day we can go again so we can source new stones, pearls and diamonds and get fresh inspiration for our pieces.
There's no doubt we'll have our names down to book into our favourite cafes and restaurants. Nothing sounds better right now than brunch in Two Boys Brew, lunch in The Pepper Pot, Cocktails & Bubbles in The Westbury or dinner in Forest Avenue or Coppinger Row.
Everybody is out booking their appointments and we're no different. Some of our much loved salons & beauticians are Floraison, The Loft, Mink and FlatIron.
Parties, concerts, weddings & hosting friends - we'll be at them all catching up on the memories we've missed out on making. BBQ season is upon us and you can bet we'll be grabbing some groceries from Fallon & Byrne, Forest Avenue Green Grocer and fresh veggies from the Honest 2 Goodness market to share with loved ones.
Kicking off our new series, 'Behind the Designs', featuring interviews with MoMuse Owner & Designer, Margaret O'Rourke.
Today, Margaret brings us along her journey of designing some of the rings that are so dearly loved by many.
When I started working on designing rings, it has always been about simplicity & wearability. I believe less is more when it comes to jewellery, and the pieces you love you should be able to wear every day.
What makes your diamond rings different to others?Being located in Powerscourt Townhouse, we are surrounded by both Antique jewellers and High End jewellers who really specialise in statement diamond rings. For me, I wanted to keep things minimal and so I created simple stack diamond rings. It was important to me to make them affordable and that they are all made in Dublin. It has never been about big diamonds for me. I wanted rings that could be worn and added to; to create a stacking story. I love the idea that someone might add one each year or when it's a special birthday or occasion.
Where do you source your diamonds?
Our diamonds are ethically sourced directly from Antwerp. I visited the wholesale area of this city a few years back which was extremely fascinating.
My little simple 9kt gold band which is 1.2mm with a sharp edge finish rather than rounded has always been my most popular piece and has been sold many times as a wedding band. We hammer this out also to create a textured finish and we have since made it in every metal from yellow, rose, white gold as well as platinum.
Can you tell us a little about how one of your rings is made?I wanted to create a simple half diamond band which was the first one we made with 19 diamonds (it’s always odd numbers for me). I sat down with my Goldsmith to work through the design process and created a mould for these designs as I knew I was going to create many different variations including coloured diamonds, emeralds & sapphires. We then get Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings to approve before they finally go to casting. After the ring is cast, we send our rings to our Diamond Setter who begins the very intricate and time consuming task of hand setting our diamonds in place. It is then hallmarked and returned for polishing. Then we will bring it to the Assay Office at Dublin Castle to get our own MoMuse Hallmark, making it ready to adorn our shop display case!
Which ring is your personal favourite? My favourite would be the 9kt 19 White Diamond Band stacked with our 9kt Hammered Band. They were the first two ring I ever made and I love how they almost resemble one ring. They stack so beautifully together.
Tell us a little about the other Semi Precious Stones and shapes you use for your rings? If you are unsure of your ring size, we offer a measurement service in store, which we are hoping can resume again shortly. Sizing is often a personal choice with some preferring a loose over a tight fit or vice versa. We’re happy to offer our advise on what might work best for you. If you are not within easy access of our shop, check with your local jeweller and we will do our best to work to their measurements.
I continue to add a new ring(s) each year to our collection. This year I created a Three Diamond Band and a Five Diamond Band, both inspired by my Single White Diamond Band.
