10 years in the making

10 years in the making

Some of you might be wondering how MoMuse started and where the name comes from. Well, the name actually stems from my initials, Mo, and the brand itself was founded by my desire to create pieces of jewellery as an empowerment and invitation to ‘be your own muse’.

I started small, selling my designs at market stalls, until finally opening the standalone boutique on the ground floor of the Powerscourt Townhouse in 2009. Fast forward to November 2019, and I found myself celebrating 10 years of business! A truly momentous moment, for both myself and the brand. 10 years of building and growing MoMuse alongside 10 years of mysteries; all of the unknowns that come with running your own business.

Be your own muse
In what seems like such a short space of time, MoMuse has evolved from a costume jewellery brand into a fine gold brand, with the core collection featuring stars, moons and circles in 9kt gold and 14kt gold-filled. Sticking true to our minimal aesthetic, every piece is simple in design; some scattered with black diamonds (a favourite of mine) and precious gemstones to add a dash of intrigue.

In celebration of our 10 years, we launched both our miniature gold stud collection and our range featuring freshwater pearls. With the help of talented filmmaker Rosie Barrett and art director and stylist Ciana March, we created a short film showcasing the new additions. It imagines a woman at home on a dark winter night with her favourite MoMuse pieces.

Cheers to MoMuse
To mark the occasion, we also hosted a small gathering at the store in Powerscourt, with golden balloons, flutes of golden bubbles and, of course, multiple displays of golden MoMuse treasures. Our friends and neighbours at The Garden, our favourite flower shop, provided an incredible window installation for the morning event and tasty breakfast treats were provided by the dream team at Two Boys Brew.  Doreen Kilfeather captured the whole thing on camera.

With the support of friends, the press, the design community and all the other independent businesses in the area - and the backing of our amazing customers, of course - MoMuse has grown in a way I could never have dreamed of. I'm so excited to see what the next ten years brings!
